Nail art that save you from skin cancer

Nail art is going an extra mile to be a helping hand or helping nail for so many things. First it was the Date rape drug detecting nail polish and now there is a piece of nail art that will save you from skin cancer. L'Oreal Paris USA, has developed and launched a wearable sensor called ‘UV Sense’ – a tiny adhesive electronic sensor that’s so small, it can be stuck on your nails.

It is sort of a nail sticker which will not only track your UV exposure level, but will also sync data to an app in real time so you’re continuously informed about the likelihood of skin damage. This sticker is battery free so, you can relax about its life.

The device – which looks like a tiny blue and beige donut - collects data from your surrounding environment and stores it in a chip that’s synced to your smartphone. Via an app, you’ll then be alerted you anytime you’ve reached the max amount of time your specific skin type should be exposed to the sun.

“The technology within UV sense is ground-breaking and has so much potential to impact the future of technology and wearables,” explains Guive Balooch, Global Vice President of L’Oreal’s Research and Innovation Technology Incubator.

If you are planning to get hands on this amazing nail art sticker, you will have to wait a little longer. The product is hoped to be available for purchase from stores and selected dermatologists in 2019, with the price point expected to be between $40 and $50.

To have a minimal nail art, this can be a good thing, but the price is a bit higher for one nail chip. I'd rather half of it on good sunscreen lotion and get a stunning manicure done with rest of it.
